Apple TV+, Apple’s streaming subscription service, launched in South Africa and around the world last Friday.
The service promises a lot of exclusive series such as the highly anticipated The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell. The platform also signed a deal with Oprah to produce content for it in the near future.
We compared Apple TV+’s South Africa offering with other major streaming platforms in the country. At R84.99 per month, Apple TV+ is slightly cheaper than Netflix and Showmax which costs R99 a month.
To subscribe to all four platforms will cost roughly R370.99 a month, while DStv’s premium package costs R809 a month. DStv premium package, however, does include sport and sport streaming through DStv Now, which the other streaming platforms do not offer.
At launch, most Apple TV+ series premiered with three episodes, with one new episode to roll out every week.
A year subscription of Apple TV+ is included for free with every purchase of a new iPhone, Macbook, iPad, iPod, and Apple TV.
The service is also available for a 7-day free trial.
