“Like the 1966 race car, the steering wheel is leather wrapped, with seat belts featuring a unique blue webbing.”
Ford has revealed the GT ’66 Heritage Edition, an appearance package celebrating the nameplate’s historic Le Mans victory.
The build features a Shadow Black exterior with either gloss or matte black finish, while two silver stripes run the length of the vehicle. Exposed carbon fiber, Frozen White #2 hood and door graphics, and 20-inch gold satin wheels further reinforce the unique looks.
The interior boasts Ebony leather-wrapped seats with pillowed inserts and plow-through stitching. The dark leather wrap can also be found on the instrument panel, pillars and headliner, while gold appliqués provide contrast that matches the wheels.
The modern No. 68 Ford GT racer was the overall GT winner of the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours, piloted by Sébastien Bourdais, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller. The heritage configuration evokes the GT40 Mark II driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, one of three Ford GT’s to sweep the podium in 1966.
Limited quantities of the Heritage Edition will be available for the 2017 model year.
