Since the release of the anticipated Avengers Endgame, you realize the power of the Marvel and Disney brands. Most of the people only go to the cinema when it’s a Disney or Marvel production (minus the latest X-Men). Since Endgame, I’ve been listening to a podcast called Business Wars and it gives you an illustrated perspective on the battle between Marvel and DC and why Marvel is as successful as it is today. Marvel has managed to capture us with the first Iron Man and then followed with other movies from Marvel that connected the dots until the first Avengers (which was awesome). After 10 years of following every other movie from Spider-Man, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Black Panther, and Ant-Man. Avengers Endgame was such a beautiful way to end that era, I came out of the Ster Kinekor theater having more respect for Thanos than anyone else, I can’t wait to see what they do with his storyline. Thanos is the greatest villain we have ever had.

So when we got an invitation to go watch the latest Spider-Man in Rosebank with the D-BOX experience, I was both intrigued and looking forward to the experience because I didn’t know what D-BOX was at the time. D-BOX is a seating concept that adds motion right in your seat! Moviegoers will be immersed in an unmatched, hyper-realistic entertainment experience that moves the body and sparks the imagination through motion. This feature also helps with keeping you awake if you fall asleep early and it’s amazing for kids well, you can also adjust the intensity of the motion of your seat depending on what you like. Also, Ster Kinekor has introduced movie club subscription service which I think is great and about time as well. I wonder if they will go into the streaming service in the future as well?

I took my girl because she is not a fan of fantasy movies, especially Marvel movies, she is more into real stories type movies and films. For me this was the first movie to continue from the Endgame and to be honest I didn’t think I was ready to even have that conversation, because I’m still not over the fact that Tony Stark has died. It’s going to be hard to replace Iron Man hey, we love Tony Stark and no one does Tony as Tony does. As a 30 something plus male, my Spider-Man will always be Toby Maguire and it’s always hard to get the right actor to replace the old one but since Iron Man said it’s ok I’m warming up to this kid, Tom Holland. He was annoying at first but since Endgame you look at him differently, and it’s because you can relate to his grief and therefore relate to him. The latest villain on Far From Home is rather interesting, to say the least, I didn’t like his helmet or head cover it looks awkward for some reason. What I found interesting is that he is linked to Tony Stark, remember Iron Man 3 also had a villain that was linked to Tony, similar storyline here as well. I like that MJ is also black and this is very new to the Marvel world and I’m sure it gets interesting reviews, but this is progressive for Marvel. Without giving away too much of the movie, I like their chemistry and it’s a really fun movie to watch. It’s a new era for Marvel so let’s see how they carry on for the next 10 years without the main stars we have invested so much into.
