Sharpeville Food Festival

Sharpeville Food Festival has quickly earned its fair share of buzz as one of South Africa’s coolest food and music event.  Since its announcement some two months ago through various online media platforms, Sharpeville Food Festival which features 20 Food Stalls, Beverage Garden and 15 Musical Artists including an International Surprise Act, has got food and music lovers across the country talking and sharing the exciting and refreshing news. Striking a balance between culinary and musical enthusiasm, the festival organisers hope to create an event that fun loving people can enjoy.

The key to the festival, according to Festival Director and Founder Romeo Malepe, is to completely submerse yourself in the environment of this unique event. The Sharpeville Food Festival idea, said Romeo Malepe, was born out of the unsettling the online search results I used to usually get when searching for content about the iconic township of Sharpeville, of which would be images with reference to the Sharpeville Massacre. “We realised that since we as the people of Sharpeville and Vaal Triangle region have got to know and understand our neighbourhood very intimately, therefore we are the best people to capture video and image content of the factual and current state of affair of Sharpeville and its people, that when Sharpeville.co.za came into existence”, concluded Romeo. Sharpeville Festival also plans to take a child to school every year as one of the highlight under their various charitable initiatives.

Bring friends, bring kids and family.  Sharpeville Food Festival on the 28th October 2017, George Thabe Stadium Cricket Pitch at 12pm till late.
