Porn stars …

Wearing absolutely nothing but silver glass heels, the mocha coloured beauty gets up from her bright unimaginative sofa to answer the door. Her endowed behind shaking at every purposeful but short step. “Who is it” she asks. “Its me, Travis!” a response is shouted back nonchalantly. “I’ve been waiting for you nigger” she whispers to herself as she promptly props up her small breasts before opening the door. The camera moves from her undeniably sexy behind to the tall man entering the house for a moment. His eyes are wide as if this was beyond his wildest expectations but his smile betrays him. He’s not a real actor and he’s not worried about it, he just wants to get to the part he enjoys most. The best part of his job… sex with beautiful, thick women. The rest of the short conversation is a blur and connection is lost until she kneels down to take his belt off.

The rest of the script is more action than words… a few uninspiring moans there, a leg here, a couple of different views of the deed and maybe a short interview thereafter about how it was. But what happens when everyone goes home. No camera, no lights, just them and well… do they even have friends outside of the porn industry? If they don’t what do they talk about all day? “Em, that nigger was so wack” …”Yeah, he like came 5 times during the shoot and made me late for my doctor’s appointment”. Jokes aside, we have to assume these people have their own lives, it maybe very ordinary lives or extra ordinarily private lives. One theory and this comes from some media reports over the years is that most pornstars, especially women are hooked on drugs or have financial woes and thats what keeps them in the industry. In fact a recent Forbes article highlighted that American banks were declining opening accounts for them when they disclosed their profession.

What freaks me out is that there is a lot of them. One source suggests that as much as 120 000 new women get into the porn industry every year in the U.S alone. Europe surely has its fair share and Africa is the new feeding ground for the industry.  The industry is still worth only $4 billion in the U.S which is not a lot compared to the sheer number of people in the industry. And with so many people, surely they cant hide from the public? I can just imagine a sleaze ball fox-trotting his way to the bar as he catches a view of what seems like an incredible woman sitting there, ass out on the chair. “Hi, I’m Mike but my friends call me Spike because I can poke… wait a minute, aren’t you the girl in the shake your booty 35 film?”. I can think of a thousand killer conversations of confrontations with the public but again I am drawn to their family lives if they have any.

Do porn stars have normal relationships with their family? How do you explain to your father what it is that you do when you’re in the porn industry? Do they talk about sex with their moms? What do their little brothers or sisters say and how do they feel about it. Imagine finding out from your neigbours or your friends? I suppose it might not be that bad since most women stay in the industry for a reported period of 2-5 years but then again that could be because they have outlived their shelf live. Either way you look at it, its a tough industry to be in and more so for men so perhaps a different perspective could be made in the fight for gender equality?
