Music forms a big part of our lives. It’s like love. It can make you feel happy, sad and all kinds of emotions. Music is art and we’ve seen many brands that manufacture sound systems create not only speakers but work of arts that complement architectural designs and music that is being played by the product itself.

Richard Clarkson – an Art Laboratory and Studio company which was founded in 2014 as an experimental product, lighting & furniture studio have teamed up with Crealev, a company that specialises in Maglev Technology which enables products to float.

Maglev is a levitation technology that consist of two elements; a base and carrier containing magnetic elements. The disc or ring carrier that can be integrated into objects – and in this case, The Cloud speaker. There are four different levitation modules that can each lift the carrier up to floating heights of 87mm from 34mm. The levitation process is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that ensures unobstructed wireless use. However, the base element must remain plugged in order for the speaker to be in use.

The Cloud speaker is an Adruino-controlled, motion triggered lightning and thunder performance and music activated visualising speaker. The Adruino software feature allows the speaker to send different light visuals that mimic a thundercloud per beat of the music using LED lights with a high powered in built Bluetooth speaker. The LED lights can be adjusted by brightness and colour to suit the mood of the environment and music.

The Cloud speaker doesn’t only float. It has motion sensors that allow full rotational movement and vertical bobbing for a more realistic atmospheric experience.
