When life finally decides to come together, everything ends up making sense. How we react to different circumstances thrown at us will determine where our future or life is headed. I have indeed experienced the full potential of life.
Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. – Dennis P. Kimbro
I have just started working for Marvin and when I was invited to a launch dinner to launch the newest edition of Chivas Regal that had partnered with Jeep, I couldn’t say no to the invitation. I mean, I deserve to be there.
George, who is the owner of Marvin, asked me to meet up with Athi from DNA Architects at the Jeep dealership for our departure to Bela Bela for the launch of the Chivas Regal Ultis. I figured that we will be driving in the latest Jeep, and I was in the Grand Cherokee – now I’m excited and clearly, it’s going to be an awesome evening.
Of course, everybody had to have their own Jeep and drive to the destination, just to get the feel of the Jeep and it’s capabilities, this event is all class! Driving the Grand Cherokee was Athi, and I just had to be in front with her, and at the back was the photographer, Philly. I was in the car with the elite. I am the youngest one in the car and I was sitting with established people who have the capabilities of pointing me towards the right direction.
We were cruising down the highway, involved in a Jeep convoy and every movement we made just had to be recorded. It felt as if I was in a movie scene, too good to be true. I couldn’t believe it, I still can’t even now, this is where my life is at.
We arrive at Lejwe la Metsi, Bela Bela and the hotel is closed off and fully booked just for us, I am just in complete awe as we get settled, all I received was absolute 5star treatment. With my little shy nature, I introduce myself to everyone, obviously I am the new face of the family because everyone knew Marvin and were expecting George, so I just had to get familiar with everyone. This is slowly becoming the best night of my life. I didn’t anticipate that it would turn out like this but I am grateful that it did.
Upon our arrival, we had everything and everyone ready to embrace our presence. I felt like a living goddess. We had lunch before we could take the bad boys to a Dakar rally and upon our arrival at the rally we had a mini photoshoot with the Jeeps. The Grovel road was like cruising down the highway, we drove without thinking of any damage that may occur.
Where we had finally stopped, we took in the fresh air that mother nature had given us. The view was absolutely amazing, photoshoots at every corner. Now I am thinking that I have finally made it.
We eventually went back to the hotel to freshen up for the night ahead. We had dinner after the whiskey key notes tasting, the notes or rather key ingredients were: Tormore which was very fruity, Longmorn that was so thick and creamy, Stathisla that gave the whiskey a kick to it, Alt Abhainne that was spicy and to end the mixtures was Braeval that smells floral with a magnificent kick to it as well. And all these contributed to what Chivas Regal Ultis is. I was one of the selected few out of a 100 people who got lucky enough to be able to experience a one of a kind tasting of then notes of the Chivas Regal.
The launch changed the old school norms, allowing Chivas to be enjoyed by the youth as well. It can be taken in neat or as a cocktail. And with every meal that was had during the dinner, came a different cocktail infused with Chivas Regal.
After all had been said and done, we had a fruitful evening. I particularly loved the conversations that was had at the table, I personally didn’t say much but I was listening most of the time, listening to the knowledge that was shared amongst black men and the few females that were there, three females to be precise.
Never before has a generation of youth, been targeted and selected so diligently to be able to taste a fine brewing of whiskey, including its key ingredients. The beautiful evening was closed off with cigars and Chivas Ultis at our disposal for us to just indulge, interacting with people of utmost excellence and prestige and having conversations that challenge your mental ability.
At the end of it all, I walked away with my own Chivas Regal Ultis, you could just imagine the smile on my face.
